When we first sat down to sketch out the MAKAI M37, we weren’t just looking to build another power catamaran. We wanted to create a vessel that actually understands the relationship between a skipper and the environment. In the boating world, you’re often forced to choose: you either hide away in a dark, enclosed cabin to escape the weather, or you fry in an open boat with no place to hide.
With the M37, we decided to throw that compromise overboard.
Protection Without the Prison
The core of the M37 experience is our fully protected cockpit. We’ve wrapped the helm in a stunning, automotive-inspired curved glass windscreen. It’s not just about aesthetics—though it looks incredible—it’s about high-speed wind protection. When you’re pushing 35 knots, you want to feel the power, not the gale. This glass barrier, combined with our solid hardtop, means you can keep cruising comfortably even when the weather turns “sporty.”
But protection shouldn’t mean isolation. One of my favorite features is the forward-opening windscreen door. It’s a game-changer for airflow. By opening that front door while underway or at anchor, you create a natural wind tunnel that pulls fresh air directly through the cockpit. It transforms the space into a free-flowing, breathable environment that keeps everyone cool without the constant hum of air conditioning.
Daylight on Demand: The Electric Sunroof
For the sun-seekers, we’ve introduced the optional huge electric glass sunroof. It’s a massive piece of engineering that slides back to flood the cockpit with natural daylight.
There is something special about being at the helm with the sun on your shoulders and the sky above, while still being shielded from the spray and wind by the surrounding structure. It gives you that “open-air” feeling on demand, but the moment you want shade or the rain starts to spit, you’re one button-press away from a sealed, dry sanctuary.
Expanding Your Oasis: The Rear Sun Awning
We also know that the “perfect spot” on the boat often shifts as the day goes on. When you’re at anchor and the afternoon sun starts to bite, the rear platform becomes the place to be. That’s why we offer the optional electric extending sun awning.
This system extends out from the rear of the hardtop to provide a massive footprint of enhanced cockpit shade. It essentially doubles your shaded living area, protecting your guests on the aft settee and the swim platform.
See it in Action
To truly understand how these elements come together to create the ultimate cruising environment, you need to see the flow of the boat for yourself. I’ve put together a walkthrough that highlights exactly how we’ve balanced this “inside-outside” lifestyle.

Built for the Modern Cruiser
Whether you’re navigating the chop of the Mediterranean or cruising the Australian coastline, the M37 is designed to be your home away from home. We use UV-resistant gelcoats and temperature-regulating textiles because we know these boats live in the sun.
At MAKAI, we believe you should be able to choose your climate. Open the doors and the roof to let the world in, or close them up and extend the awning to create your own private, shaded oasis. It’s about versatility, performance, and—most importantly—making every minute on the water count.
